I have to confess the ugly truth that I had forgotten about Haiti. Snow, a wedding, and LOST totally took over my mind. Luckily a lot of good people have not forgotten. For example, look at Kris Allen. I love Kris Allen.
It reminded me of the sheep and goats parable in Matthew 25. It’s the one where Jesus talks about good people inheriting the Kingdom. They fed him, clothed him, and took care of him. ”Whatever you did for the least of these,” he says, “you did for me.”
We’ve heard that a million times. It makes sense. Helping is great. If you read on, though, you see something else. Jesus continues talking, and condemns those who did not feed him, clothe him, or take care of him. ”Whatever you didn’t do for the least of these, you didn’t do for me,” he says. He promptly sends them to what Matthew calls “eternal punishment”.
That’s me. Condemned by apathy. Condemned because I won’t even lift a finger or think a thought that might help feed, clothe, or care.
We’re doing great in the Olympics, though.
